The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) provides students an exciting and fulfilling educational experience through its nationally acclaimed Schools of Choice program. The program provides a system that promotes student choice and racial diversity throughout the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Schools of Choice provides students with specialized programs or pathway options that delivers the state-required core curriculum in the context of a theme or career path. Any student living in the parish is eligible to apply to any Schools of Choice program and is selected by lottery according to legal and program specific criteria. Special education students can also apply, but must have their application approved by their IEP committee to be eligible for the lottery.

LPSS Schools of Choice adopted the Smart Choice Solution™ more than 8 years ago to assist with the management of student applications and student lotteries.
