For nearly three decades, St. Louis City and County families have experienced extraordinary educational opportunities at local magnet schools.

Today, applying to these schools is now faster and easier than ever, thanks to the new Smart Choice blind lottery and online application system.
St. Louis’ theme-based, gifted and specialty programs give students two choices from eligible schools, using the Smart Choice platform to apply to their two choice schools.

Each program requires completion of different forms, therefore the Smart Choice system was configured to allow each program the ability to collect the data needed based on each’s specific requirements.
Applications are accepted both online and offline (paper applications). Smart Choice administrators can easily integrate paper applications with online-submitted applications.

This feature provides an online interface to all applicants though the system’s online parent dashboard. The dashboard allows parents to review applications, make changes and even accept or decline seats. The dashboard also delivers important alerts and notifications from administrators to parents.

St. Louis accepts out-of-district applications. In order to manage these out-of-district schools, as well as availability of programs by district schools, the administrative component was configured to make these updates easy and efficient for district staff using our Interdistrict Support module.
This feature provides the option to input multiple districts, connect schools to a specific district and even manage availability of programs by grade for each district in the system.
